The taper candle is one of the most popular and oldest type of candles out there. They are a thin, long candle that will burn for an extended period of time and you will usually find them available in 12 or 6 inch heights. They are often thought of in relation to romantic candle light dinners, used for menorahs, during power outages and you will often see them in old movies where someone is walking around a house with a candle and candlestick holder. I like them particularly because they provide a very classic look.
Black taper candles are great for any dinner table or event, but are particularly fun around Halloween and Thanksgiving. You can find cute festive candle holders to place them in to spruce up your decorations. Using a few cute pumpkin candle holders along with a few other decorative pieces will make a fun yet sophisticated centerpiece for any dinner table.
If you have a friend or family member who is a big fan of candles, you can decorate taper candles and turn them into a great gift! Simply buy a pack or two of taper candles and some decorative pieces like small stars, dried flowers, or glitter work really well. You can use paraffin to make the decorations stick to your candles, or you can purchase decorations such as ribbons, bows or lace to tie or wind around the candles. Black candles look best with brighter colors. If you already know what their style is, or if they have a particular candle holder they love, you can decorate the black candle to match their home décor or candle holder. You can even decorate each candle differently so they are unique. Keep in mind if you think the person may want to burn the candle, put the decorations around the very bottom of the candle. If they are going to be used only for decoration then decorate them however you see fit. Wrap the candles in a nice box or pretty tissue paper, put a bow on it and you now have a lovely, thoughtful yet inexpensive gift.
As I’ve said before, I believe black candles are totally over looked but they are a just as great as any other candle color. Plus, their color makes them more unique and if you have them in your home you can rest assured that you have a stylish look that your friends and neighbors don’t have.
